Founded in 1979, Geary Veterinary Hospital has served pets and families in the East Bay for nearly five decades and is today led by Dr. Gillian Hamilton and Dr. Erica Weiss. Geary provides a broad range of veterinary services, including wellness and preventive care, diagnostics and imaging, surgery, dental care and senior pet care.

Dr. Hamilton has a distinctive background in public health, having worked as an epidemiologist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and as an infectious disease epidemiologist for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health before entering veterinary medicine. Dr. Weiss has experience caring for a wide range of animal species and completed a residency in Laboratory Animal Medicine.

“Geary has built an exceptional reputation over nearly five decades by combining strong medicine with deep relationships across the Walnut Creek community,” said VetnCare CEO Matt Kirchner. “Dr. Hamilton and Dr. Weiss bring impressive clinical backgrounds and a shared commitment to preserving what has made Geary successful. We are excited to welcome the entire team to VetnCare and support the hospital as it continues to provide the highest quality of care to pets and families for years to come.”

Dr. Hamilton and Dr. Weiss commented, “We are proud of our veterinary team, and thankful for the community we’ve built here in Walnut Creek. Our commitment to quality healthcare for pets and their owners is at the root of what started as a family-owned business and is now expanding through a partnership with VetnCare. With its focus on advanced medicine and shared expertise, VetnCare can help our team continue its mission to provide the pets we treat with exceptional service and a lifetime of care and support. Knowing that the bond we share with the pets in our communities is invaluable, we look forward to continuing our roles in helping them to live long, happy lives.”

The transaction marks VetnCare’s seventh acquisition since partnering with Great Point Partners, a Greenwich-based private investment firm focused exclusively on the health care industry, and its second acquisition under CEO Matt Kirchner.

Eddie Hjerpe, Principal at Great Point Partners, added: “Geary is exactly the type of locally established, clinician-led practice that makes VetnCare’s community stronger and will seamlessly integrate into the broader ecosystem. This acquisition highlights the Company’s ongoing momentum, and we look forward to supporting Matt and the broader team as they continue to thoughtfully expand VetnCare’s presence across Northern California.”
