Algolia and Vercel Partner to Bring AI-Powered Search Natively to the Vercel Marketplace

Algolia, the AI Search and Retrieval platform orchestrating more than 1.75 trillion queries each year, trusted by over 18,000 businesses and used by millions of developers worldwide, today announced a native integration with Vercel, the agentic infrastructure platform where humans and agents build software together. The integration, now live on the Vercel Marketplace, lets developers provision an Algolia application directly from the Vercel dashboard—the same way they provision a database—turning search into a single deployment step instead of a separate setup project.

Deploying an application on Vercel has increasingly become a matter of connecting prebuilt building blocks: import a repository, select a database from the Marketplace, and the platform provisions it, bills it, and injects the credentials automatically. With this integration, search now joins that set of blocks. Developers can click install, choose a plan, and deploy, with search fully configured and API keys already in place.

Piyush Patel, Chief Ecosystem Officer at Algolia, said: “Developers shouldn’t have to leave their workflow to add world-class search to their application. By becoming a native integration on Vercel, we’re removing the friction that used to sit between building an app and making it searchable. This partnership reflects where we see the ecosystem heading: infrastructure that works together by default, for the humans and the agents building on it. We see more and more of that happening with Vercel and are excited to make this investment into the partnership to support that growing base of users with our powerful Search API.”

How the Integration Works

From the Algolia listing on the Vercel Marketplace, developers click “Install” to trigger an OAuth handshake between the two platforms, replacing the need to create a separate Algolia account. A short setup wizard then walks through selecting a hosting region, optionally activating the Algolia Crawler for a Vercel domain, and choosing a plan:

  • Free: A free tier supporting up to 10,000 transactions per month
  • Grow: Pay-as-you-go keyword search for higher volumes
  • Grow Plus: Pay-as-you-go with AI-powered search, ranking, synonyms, and personalization

Once confirmed, Algolia provisions the application automatically, and its credentials are synced directly into the environment variables of the connected Vercel project. Usage is billed through the developer’s existing Vercel invoice rather than a separate Algolia one. The Algolia dashboard remains a single click away via Vercel SSO for teams that want to browse indices, tune relevance, or configure the crawler.

Vercel’s Marketplace supports two integration models: connectable-account integrations, which link Vercel to an account a developer already holds elsewhere, and native integrations, which are provisioned and managed directly from the Vercel dashboard, with billing consolidated into the developer’s existing Vercel account. As a native integration, Algolia requires no separate sign-up, no second invoice, and no separate set of credentials to track.

Patel added: “Vercel’s Marketplace exists to remove the friction between an idea and a deployed application. Our native integration is a great example of that in practice. Search is one of the most common things developers need to build, and now it’s available as a first-class resource alongside databases and other infrastructure, provisioned and billed in one place.”

Conversational AI Search with Agents

The native integration also extends to Algolia Agent Studio, which layers a conversational experience on top of the same underlying search indices. Because its streaming responses are compatible with the Vercel AI SDK, developers can build a chat interface in minutes, either with the “useChat” hook or by dropping in Algolia’s prebuilt InstantSearch chat widget. When a shopper asks something like “waterproof running shoes under $100,” the agent automatically selects the right index, filters, and search parameters in real time, drawing on facets and searchable attributes it discovers on its own. Developers can find a full walkthrough in Algolia’s guide to integrating Agent Studio with the Vercel AI SDK.

Getting Started

To help developers see the integration in action, Algolia is also offering a starter template: a minimal Next.js application with a complete, ready-to-deploy search experience, including search-as-you-type, highlighting, and keyboard navigation. Its interface is built on SiteSearch, a registry of prebuilt search components powered by React InstantSearch, so teams can add a full search UI without assembling it widget by widget.

Availability

The Algolia Native Integration is available today on the Vercel Marketplace to all Vercel customers.
